We are a synthetic organic group specializing in making molecules with stimuli responsive properties. We assemble molecules to make nanocontainers that are responsive to stimuli such as light, pH and chemical stimuli for applications in drug delivery.

Laboratory of pharmacology and toxicology

Research activities are: study of the physiological mechanisms of intra- and extra-cellular antioxidant defense and evaluation of the main biomarkers of oxidative stress. nitric oxide (NO), nitrosothiols and other NOx: study of their function and metabolism. study of the antioxidant properties of some new chemical entities. study of the effect of the intra- and extracellular redox balance modulation on the progression of some pathological states.

Cardiovascular Pharmacology and Toxicology

The research group works in: Development and use of pharmacological and biochemical in vitro models (primary cells, cell cultures, isolated tissues/organs) for: 1.Pharmacology/safety pharmacology/cardiovascular toxicology of newly synthesized compounds, extracts, or purified compounds of natural origin. 2.Recycling and valorization of agricultural and food by-products: evaluation of protective properties against cardiovascular diseases.

Molecular Biology Lab

The research group is concerned with the study of the molecular mechanisms of angiogenesis (in neovascular retinopathies and tumors ) and tumor development . Within the group there is also an active line of translational research aimed at the development of bioactive molecules with anti angiogenesis and anti tumor functions.
