The Board of Directors of the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the European Investment Fund (EIF) have approved €7.9 billion in new financing aimed at strengthening European technological leadership, supporting strategic infrastructure, and fostering international cooperation.
Among the approved operations are €3 billion in investments under the TechEU initiative, designed to accelerate the development of advanced technologies and innovation. This funding will support, among other priorities, the expansion of broadband connectivity, pharmaceutical research, life sciences, biotechnology, and innovative energy efficiency solutions.
The EIF has also authorized new interventions targeting European investment funds specialized in artificial intelligence (AI) and deep tech, helping to enhance access to capital for startups and innovative enterprises. Additionally, the new decisions include investments in water management, school and social housing infrastructure, sustainable transport, wind energy, and business financing instruments across several European countries.
On the international front, the EIB approved further operations to support Ukraine's reconstruction and economic resilience, with interventions in renewable energy, digital infrastructure, transport, and private sector support.
Financing was also authorized for projects in Côte d’Ivoire and Kazakhstan, in line with the European Global Gateway strategy, which aims to strengthen international partnerships and enhance the European Union's global presence.
